THE ARC COMMUNITY LEAGUE RECEIVES A $10,000 GRANT

To support recreational opportunities for people with disabilities in Dutchess County, NY

May 2024

The Arc Community League (Wassaic D.C. Chapter), a not-for-profit organization supporting people with disabilities in Dutchess County, has been awarded a $10,000 grant from the Trustee Management Board of NYSARC Trust Services to support our Chapter’s recreation program.

NYSARC Trust Services administers supplemental needs trusts (SNT) and pooled trusts that can make dramatic improvements to the lives of people with disabilities by enabling individuals to maintain financial eligibility for Medicaid and other means-tested government benefit programs. For 2024, NYSARC Trust Services is proud to fulfill its commitment to enhancing the lives of people with disabilities by awarding a total of $2,697,508 to The Arc New York Chapters statewide.

As part of this NYSARC Trust Services Grant, The Arc Community League was awarded $10,000 to support new recreational opportunities and enrich the lives of the more than 30 individuals it serves.

A portion of the recreation grant funds will be used to defray the cost of the Chapter’s annual family picnic on July 20, 2024.  In keeping with our Chapter’s history of serving individuals residing on the Wassaic Developmental Center campus, some grant funds will be used to include individuals who reside in State operated homes in the Dutchess county area to this event.

Funds will also be used to offer individuals with disabilities special events which could not be offered without this grant. These events include, but are not limited to, sporting events, theatrical performances, trips to parks and community events.
