The Arc Community League Awarded $10,000 Recreation Grant from NYSARC Trust Services

To support recreational opportunities for people with developmental disabilities in Dutchess county.

Beacon, NY – May 2023 –
The Arc Community League, a not-for-profit organization supporting people with disabilities in Dutchess county, has been awarded a $10,000 grant from the Trustee Management Board of NYSARC Trust Services to support the Arc Community League’s Supplemental Group Day Habilitation recreation program.

NYSARC Trust Services administers supplemental needs trusts (SNT) that can make dramatic improvements to the lives of people with disabilities while enabling individuals to maintain eligibility for public benefits programs, such as Medicaid and and other means-tested government benefit programs. For 2023, NYSARC Trust Services is proud to fulfill its commitment to enhancing the lives of people with disabilities by awarding a total of $2,697,980 in grants to The Arc New York Chapters statewide.

The Arc Community League will use this grant to enhance current services, to develop new recreational opportunities to enrich the lives of the individuals it serves, to fund the Chapter’s Annual Family Day Picnic and other “special” events throughout the year.  These events would not be available through regular Chapter program funding.

These additional recreation activities were chosen to enhance social skills and expose people with developmental disabilities to the cultural world around them.  As part of person-centered planning, people served took part in choosing these activities.

NYSARC Trust Services has administered Supplemental Needs Trusts since 1972, helping thousands of people with disabilities protect their eligibility for government benefits and improve their quality of life.  NYSARC Trust Services programs give people with disabilities the opportunity to remain in their communities with greater comfort and independence while providing peace of mind to their family and loved ones.

NYSARC Trust Services provides administration of pooled supplemental needs trusts to help families plan for the future of a loved one with a disability, preserve income and assets for Medicaid planning purposes and long-term care needs, and protect unexpected windfalls of money.
